Issue description
This code triggers when the tractor's control system detects an excessive drop in engine speed (RPM) immediately following the engagement of the Power Take-Off (PTO). This is often tied to an anti-stall safety function designed to protect the engine and transmission from severe bogging or stalling under sudden, heavy loads.

Check the cause
Isolate the implement: Disconnect the implement from the PTO shaft and engage the PTO bare. If the RPM does not drop, the implement is the cause (e.g., seized gearbox or too heavy for current RPM).
Check engine fuel delivery: If the engine genuinely bogs down under load, check for plugged fuel filters, a blocked fuel tank vent, or water in the fuel.
Inspect hydraulic fluid and filters: Low, dirty, or contaminated hydraulic fluid can cause the PTO solenoid or clutch pack to behave erratically.
Test the PTO solenoid and sensor wiring: Inspect the harness leading to the PTO engagement solenoid and PTO speed sensor for rubbed wires, loose pins, or corrosion causing false RPM drop signals.
Repair steps
Address Engine Power (If Applicable)
Replace the primary and secondary fuel filters and bleed the fuel system. Test the tractor on a PTO dyno to verify if the engine is producing its rated horsepower under load.
Replace the PTO Speed Sensor
If the engine sounds fine but the computer throws the code and disengages the PTO, the inductive PTO speed sensor may be failing and reporting an inaccurate RPM drop. Locate the sensor on the rear transmission/PTO housing, disconnect the harness, unthread the sensor, and install the replacement.
Replace the PTO Engagement Solenoid
If the PTO engages too harshly (slamming the engine with load instantly rather than feathering it in), the proportional PTO hydraulic solenoid valve is likely sticking. Relieve hydraulic system pressure and disconnect the battery. Locate the PTO solenoid valve block on the transmission housing. Remove the retaining bolt/nut, slide off the electromagnetic coil, and unthread the valve cartridge. Install the new solenoid valve, ensuring the O-rings are lubricated with clean hydraulic fluid.

Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 6.00.08 code from the HITCH controller and test PTO engagement at various RPMs.
