Massey Ferguson 61 – Armrest ECU (Armrest Autotronic 5): X130 – FingerTIP 6 front linkage function. Short circuit 0 V.
Issue description
The electrical circuit for the 6th fingertip control switch (which operates the front linkage function) has experienced a short circuit to ground (0 Volts).
Applies to these machines
6 machines- Massey Ferguson 8600 Series
- MF 8650
- MF 8670
- MF 8690
- Massey Ferguson 7600 Series
- Massey Ferguson 6700 S Series
Check the cause
Connect the Massey Ferguson EDT (Electronic Diagnostic Tool) to verify the active error code and monitor the live voltage reading for the X130 FingerTIP 6 switch.
Inspect harness junctions X132 (instrument panel/armrest), X133 (console/cab transmission), and X134 (console/pillar) for pinched wires, chafing, or moisture.
Disconnect the X130 FingerTIP 6 switch and test the switch terminals with a multimeter to determine if the short to 0 V is internal to the switch or on the harness side.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent further electrical damage to the Armrest Autotronic 5 module.
Access the Armrest
Carefully disassemble the armrest console to access the underside of the FingerTIP control module (X130).
Isolate the Short
If the diagnostic checks revealed a harness issue at junctions X132, X133, or X134, repair the damaged wire insulation or replace the affected harness section.
Replace the Switch (if necessary)
If the switch itself failed the continuity test (internal short to ground), remove the faulty FingerTIP 6 switch and install the replacement unit.
Reassemble and Reconnect
Reassemble the armrest console and reconnect the battery.
Recalibrate
Using the EDT diagnostic tool, you must perform the "Calibration of the FingerTIP controls on the armrest" procedure to ensure the Autotronic 5 module recognizes the full sweep of the new or repaired switch. Clear the AR 61 fault code.
Parts you might need
(1)Armrest FingerTIP Switch (Front Linkage Function - X130)
These switches are often serviced as part of the larger Armrest Autotronic 5 control module or multipad assembly depending on the specific tractor trim. Ensure you are sourcing the switch specifically designated for the "front linkage function" (X130).
