Massey Ferguson E651.05 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Injector Number 1 Low Amp Draw

The controller detects that the electrical current traveling to the cylinder #1 electronic fuel injector is less than expected. This indicates an open circuit in the injector wiring, a disconnected plug, or an internal failure (open circuit/high resistance) within the injector's solenoid itself.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the cylinder #1 fuel injector for any signs of chafing, breaks, or melted wires

   Disconnect the electrical plug at the injector solenoid and check for loose, corroded, or damaged pins that could cause high resistance

   Using a multimeter, measure the resistance across the pins of the cylinder #1 injector solenoid and compare this reading to the other functioning injectors on the engine (infinite resistance indicates internal failure)

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the tractor's battery to ensure safety while working on the engine's electrical and high-pressure fuel systems.

   Access the Fuel Rail

   Remove any engine covers necessary to gain access to the common rail and fuel injectors.

   Wiring Repair

   If the diagnostic checks revealed damaged wiring or a faulty connector, splice in a new connector pigtail or repair the broken wire.

   Injector Removal

   If the wiring is intact but the injector failed the resistance test, disconnect the high-pressure fuel line and the electrical connector from Injector #1.

   Extract the Injector

   Carefully remove the faulty injector from the cylinder head.

   Install the New Injector

   Install the replacement fuel injector with a new seal ring.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the high-pressure fuel line and torque it to OEM specifications. Reconnect the electrical plug.

   Finalize

   Reconnect the battery, bleed the fuel system if required by your specific engine model, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the fault codes from the Engine ECU. Run the engine to verify the repair.
