651.13

Massey Ferguson 651.13 – Engine ECU (Electronic Control Unit): Injector Number 1 Calibration Code Issue / Calibration Fault

Issue description

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) has detected that the calibration code (often referred to as the QR code or IQA - Injector Quantity Adjustment code) for the cylinder #1 electronic fuel injector is missing, invalid, or does not match expected parameters.

Check the cause

  1. Determine if Injector #1 was recently replaced, as failing to program the new calibration code into the ECU will trigger this code immediately.

  2. Locate cylinder #1 (usually the front-most cylinder on the engine block) and read the alphanumeric calibration code/QR code printed on the top of the injector solenoid.

  3. Connect a compatible diagnostic scanner (such as AGCO EDT or Jaltest) to verify ECU data by comparing the programmed code for cylinder #1 against the physical code printed on the injector.

  4. Check if the ECU software is corrupted or requires a flash update from the dealer, as the ECU may be rejecting a valid string if the codes match but the fault persists.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic scanner

Connect your diagnostic scanner to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Turn ignition ON

Turn the ignition key to the ON position (engine off).

  3. Access Engine ECU

Access the Engine ECU module and navigate to the 'Injector Coding' or 'IQA Programming' menu.

  4. Select Cylinder #1

    Select Cylinder #1.

  5. Enter calibration code

Manually type in the alphanumeric code printed on the top of the cylinder #1 fuel injector.

  6. Save configuration

Save/Write the configuration to the ECU.

  7. Clear fault code

    Clear the 000651.13 fault code.

  8. Verify repair

Cycle the ignition key off for 30 seconds, then start the engine to verify the code does not return.

  9. Clean area

If the injector is faulty and must be replaced, clean the area around cylinder #1 to prevent debris from entering the fuel system.

  10. Disconnect harness

Disconnect the electrical harness from the cylinder #1 injector.

  11. Remove fuel line

Remove the high-pressure fuel line connecting the fuel rail to the injector. (Cap the rail and line immediately).

  12. Remove injector

Remove the injector hold-down clamp/bolt and carefully extract the injector from the cylinder head.

  13. Record new code

CRITICAL: Before installing the new injector, write down its new calibration/QR code.

  14. Install new injector

Install the new injector with a new copper base washer and O-rings. Torque the hold-down clamp and high-pressure lines to OEM specifications.

  15. Reconnect harness

    Reconnect the electrical harness.

  16. Program new code

Follow steps 1-8 to program the new injector's code into the ECU.

  17. Bleed fuel system

Bleed the fuel system if necessary, start the engine, and check for leaks.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Fuel Injector (Common Rail)

    V837073791

For 3.3L AGCO Power (Sisu) Engines. Also crosses to 837073791, Bosch 0445110408. Do not mix genuine and aftermarket parts due to differences in atomization. If replacing one, ensure the exact Bosch/AGCO match is used.

  • Fuel Injector (Common Rail)

    V837073713

For 6.6L, 7.4L, and 8.4L AGCO Power Engines. Also crosses to V837079432, LA837079432. Requires IQA coding upon installation.
