Massey Ferguson E652.05 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Injector Number 2 Low Amp Draw

The current flowing to the cylinder #2 fuel injector is less than expected. This typically indicates an open circuit in the injector wiring harness, a loose/corroded connection, or an internal failure (open coil) within the injector solenoid itself.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness running from the ECU to the cylinder #2 injector for rub points, breaks, or melted insulation.

   Disconnect the plug at injector #2 and inspect the pins for corrosion, pushed-out terminals, or moisture.

   Measure the resistance across the pins of the #2 injector coil using a multimeter. A healthy injector reads 1 ohm or less. High resistance or an open circuit (OL) indicates internal solenoid failure.

   Perform a harness continuity test from the injector connector back to the ECU pins to confirm there is no break in the wires.

   Preparation

   Disconnect the tractor's battery. Clean the area around the cylinder #2 injector thoroughly to prevent dirt from entering the fuel system or engine cylinder.

   Removal

   Remove the high-pressure fuel line and the leak-off (return) pipe connected to the injector. Unbolt the injector hold-down clamp and carefully extract the injector.

   Cleaning

   Thoroughly clean the injector bore and the bolt holes. Note: Failure to clean the bolt holes can result in a false torque reading during installation, leading to improper sealing and carbon blowby.

   Installation

   Install the new injector using a new copper sealing washer/O-ring. Torque the hold-down bolt to the exact OEM specification.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the high-pressure fuel line, leak-off pipe, and electrical connector.

   Calibration

   Program the new injector's calibration code into the ECU using a diagnostic tool to prevent code 652.13.

   Testing

   Reconnect the battery, bleed the fuel system if necessary, start the engine, and verify that the fault code is cleared and the engine runs smoothly.
