Massey Ferguson 653.05 – AGCO SISU POWER EEM4: Injector Number 3 Low Amp Draw

Issue description

The engine management system has detected that the electrical current flowing to the solenoid valve of the #3 cylinder fuel injector is lower than expected. This indicates an open circuit, a disconnected plug, or high electrical resistance in the wiring or the injector solenoid itself.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the electrical connector at Injector #3 for corrosion, backed-out pins, or physical damage.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness between the EEM4 ECU and Injector #3 for chafing, breaks, or disconnected grounds. Test for continuity from the ECU harness connector to the injector connector.

  3. Measure the resistance (ohms) across the Injector #3 solenoid pins and compare it to a known good injector to check for an internal injector solenoid failure.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect power

    Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Clean work area

    Thoroughly clean the area around Injector #3 to prevent dirt or debris from entering the engine block or open fuel system.

  3. Disconnect harness

    Disconnect the electrical harness from the injector.

  4. Remove high-pressure fuel line

    Loosen and remove the high-pressure fuel line (inlet connector tube) connecting the common rail to the injector. (Note: It is highly recommended to replace the high-pressure connector tube whenever it is removed to ensure a proper seal).

  5. Remove hold-down clamp

    Remove the injector hold-down clamp/bolt.

  6. Extract injector

    Carefully extract the injector from the cylinder head.

  7. Clean injector bore

    Clean the injector bore in the cylinder head, ensuring the old copper sealing washer is removed.

  8. Install new injector

    Install the new injector equipped with a new copper sealing washer and O-ring.

  9. Reinstall hold-down clamp

    Reinstall the hold-down clamp and torque to OEM specifications.

  10. Install new fuel line

    Install the new high-pressure fuel line/connector tube and torque to spec.

  11. Reconnect electricals

    Reconnect the electrical harness and the battery.

  12. Calibrate injector

    Connect a diagnostic service tool (such as the AGCO EDT) to clear the fault code. You must program the new injector's calibration/trim code into the EEM4 ECU.
