Issue description

The Engine Control Unit (ECU) detects that the calibration code for cylinder #3's injector is missing, invalid, or corrupted in its memory.

Check the cause

  1. Verify Recent Repairs: Determine if Injector #3 or the Engine ECU was recently replaced without programming the new injector's trim code into the ECU.

  2. Read the Injector Code: Locate Injector #3 on the engine block. Read and write down the alphanumeric calibration/trim code printed or engraved on the top of the injector head.

  3. Scan Tool Verification: Connect a compatible diagnostic scan tool to the tractor, navigate to the Engine ECU's injector coding section, and compare the code programmed for Cylinder 3 against the physical code you wrote down.

  4. Check for ECU Updates: If the code matches but the fault persists, check if there is a software update available for the Engine ECU to resolve memory corruption issues.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic scan tool

    Connect your diagnostic scan tool to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Turn ignition ON

    Turn the ignition key to the ON position (engine off).

  3. Access Engine ECU

    Access the Engine ECU module and navigate to the 'Calibration,' 'Injector Coding,' or 'IQA Configuration' menu.

  4. Input trim code

    Select Cylinder #3 and input the exact alphanumeric trim code printed on the injector.

  5. Save configuration

    Save the configuration to the ECU.

  6. Power down ECU

    Turn the ignition off for at least 30 seconds to allow the ECU to power down and save the memory.

  7. Verify repair

    Turn the ignition back on, clear the fault codes, and start the engine to verify the code does not return and the engine runs smoothly.

  8. Replace injector if failed

    If Injector #3 has failed mechanically or electrically, replace the injector, torque the hold-down clamp to the service manual specification, bleed the fuel system, and then perform the coding procedure above using the trim code from the NEW injector.
