Massey Ferguson E655.05 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Injector Number 5 Low Amp Draw

The electrical current flowing to the cylinder #5 fuel injector is less than the controller expects. This is typically caused by an open circuit in the injector wiring harness, a poor/loose electrical connection, or an internal failure of the injector's solenoid.

   Visual Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness leading to the cylinder #5 injector for chafing, breaks, melted insulation, or pinch points.

   Connector Check: Disconnect the cylinder #5 injector and the Engine ECU connectors. Check for loose pins, pushed-back terminals, moisture, or corrosion.

   Solenoid Resistance Test: Use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the pins of the cylinder #5 injector solenoid. If the resistance is out of specification (indicating an open internal coil), the injector has failed.

   Harness Continuity Test: Measure the continuity of the wires between the ECU connector and the injector connector to rule out a broken wire in the harness.

   Power down the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable.

   Remove any engine covers or intake piping necessary to access the fuel rail and injectors.

   Locate the fuel injector for cylinder #5.

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the injector.

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring issue, repair the broken wire or replace the affected section of the engine wiring harness.

   If the diagnostic checks revealed an open circuit inside the injector solenoid, remove the high-pressure fuel line connected to the injector.

   (Cap the rail and line to prevent contamination).

   Remove the injector hold-down clamp and extract the faulty injector.

   Clean the injector bore in the cylinder head.

   Install the new OEM fuel injector with a new copper sealing washer and O-ring.

   Torque the hold-down clamp and high-pressure fuel line to OEM specifications.

    Reconnect the injector electrical connector and the battery.

    Use a diagnostic service tool to clear the E655.05 fault code from the Engine ECU.

    Prime the fuel system, start the engine, and check for fuel leaks and smooth operation.
