   Check the standard 3-pin electrical connector at the sensor to ensure it is free of corrosion, dirt, and moisture, and that it is seated securely.

   Ensure the sensor wiring is not routed too close to high-voltage components, which can cause electromagnetic interference or voltage spikes.

   Use a diagnostic scan tool to verify if the code is Active (DM1) or Logged (DM2), and check live data parameters for 'Engine Speed (RPM)' to see if the ECU registers erratic RPM updates while cranking.

   Prepare machine

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and allow the engine to cool. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate sensor

   Locate the camshaft speed sensor on the engine block, typically near the timing gear cover or camshaft housing depending on the specific engine model.

   Disconnect sensor

   Depress the locking tab on the 3-terminal electrical connector and pull it away from the sensor.

   Remove old sensor

   Remove the retaining bolt holding the sensor in place. Carefully pull the old sensor straight out of its bore.

   Lubricate the O-ring on the new sensor with a small amount of clean engine oil. Insert the new sensor into the bore and tighten the retaining bolt to the manufacturer's specified torque.

   Reconnect system

   Reconnect the 3-pin electrical connector until it clicks into place. Reconnect the battery.

   Reset and verify

   Perform a system reset and clear the fault codes from the ECU using a diagnostic scan tool. Run the engine and verify that the E723.02 code does not return and that the engine runs smoothly without derating.
