Massey Ferguson 8.00.12 – HITCH Module: Rear Linkage Raise Solenoid High Voltage (HITCH)

The controller has detected an abnormally high voltage on the circuit responsible for the rear linkage (3-point hitch) raise solenoid. This condition is typically caused by a short circuit to power in the wiring harness, an open circuit, or a failed solenoid coil on the Electronic Hitch Control (EHR) valve block.

   Verify the tractor's battery voltage and alternator output to rule out an overcharging alternator triggering high voltage codes.

   Trace the wiring from the HITCH module to the EHR valve block at the rear of the tractor. Look for pinched wires, rubbed insulation, or areas where the raise solenoid wire might be shorting to a 12V power source.

   Disconnect the plug at the raise solenoid and check for water ingress, corrosion, or bent pins.

   Use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the pins of the raise solenoid coil. If the resistance is completely open (infinite) or severely out of spec compared to the lower solenoid, the coil has failed internally.

   Ensure the ground circuit for the solenoid is clean and tight.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Locate the Valve

   Locate the Electronic Hitch Control (EHR) valve block, typically mounted at the rear of the tractor near the hydraulic lift cover.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Disconnect the electrical harness plug from the 'Raise' solenoid. Remove the retaining nut or clip holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem.

   Replace the Coil

   Slide the old coil off the valve cartridge. Clean the stem of any dirt or debris. Slide the new solenoid coil onto the stem and secure it with the retaining nut/clip. (Note: Do not overtighten the nut, as this can distort the coil).

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the new solenoid.

   Clear Codes & Test

   Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 8.00.12 fault code. Start the tractor and operate the rear linkage raise/lower switches to confirm normal operation.
