Massey Ferguson 8.01.1C – HITCH (Rear Hitch Module): Rear Hitch Raise/Lower Rocker Switch Signal Issue (HITCH)

The electronic control unit is receiving an invalid, out-of-range, or missing electrical signal from the rocker switch used to manually raise and lower the 3-point rear linkage from inside the cab. This is typically caused by a failed switch mechanism, worn internal contacts, moisture/dust intrusion, or a wiring harness issue.

   Check the rocker switch on the cab console for physical damage, excessive play, or heavy dust/moisture accumulation.

   Remove the switch from the panel and inspect the electrical connector on the back. Look for loose pins, corrosion, or dirt that could be interrupting the signal.

   Test the wiring harness between the switch connector and the Rear Hitch Module for continuity, open circuits, or shorts to ground.

   Ensure the hydraulic system is not mechanically locked out or restricted, which could cause the system to misinterpret a lack of movement as a signal fault.

   Safety First

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and ensure the hydraulic system is completely shut down and depressurized.

   Remove the Old Switch

   Carefully pry the faulty 3-point hitch up/down rocker switch out of the cab console switch panel. It is a drop-in friction-fit design.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the wiring harness from the back of the switch.

   Clean the Area

   Wipe away any accumulated dust or debris from the console opening and the wiring connector.

   Install the New Switch

   Plug the wiring harness into the new direct-replacement OEM switch. Ensure the connector clicks securely into place.

   Mount

   Snap the new switch back into the console panel.

   Test

   Turn the tractor on and test the switch operation to ensure proper up/down function of the rear 3-point hitch. Clear the fault code from the dashboard if it does not clear automatically.
