Check the cause

  1. Inspect the Active Transport Control (ATC) button for physical damage, sticking, or liquid intrusion.

  2. Press the button with the ignition on to check if the red LED indicator illuminates; flickering or no light indicates a switch, ground, or power supply issue.

  3. Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to check the wiring harness between the switch and the HITCH controller for continuity, open circuits, and shorts.

  4. Back-probe the switch connector to verify if the voltage signal changes state when the button is pressed and released.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Access the Console

Carefully remove the retaining screws or pry the trim surrounding the right-hand ELC control panel / armrest console where the ATC button is housed.

  3. Disconnect the Switch

Lift the panel to expose the wiring underneath. Locate the connector for the Hitch Transport Dampening (ATC) button and unplug it.

  4. Remove the Faulty Switch

Depress the retaining tabs on the sides of the switch body and push it upward through the top of the console panel.

  5. Install the New Part

Snap the replacement ATC switch into the console panel until the retaining tabs click into place.

  6. Reassemble

Reconnect the electrical harness to the new switch. Seat the control panel back into the armrest/console and secure it with its original hardware.

  7. Test and Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on, clear the stored 8.01.2B fault code via the dash or diagnostic tool, and test the button to ensure the red LED illuminates and the code does not return.
