Massey Ferguson 8.01.50 – HITCH: Issue With Signal From Rear Hitch Right Draft Pin (HITCH)

Issue description

The voltage signal from the right draft pin sensor falls outside the normal operating range. When this fault occurs, the system will typically degrade its operation, relying on the left pin to operate in draft mode, or it will reduce the load on the draft.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the right draft pin for physical damage, corrosion, or loose connections.

  2. Test the wire harness for continuity, open circuits, or shorts to ground (Pin A: Ground, Pin B: Signal input, Pin C: Power supply 5V/8V).

  3. Perform a swap test by temporarily interchanging the left and right draft pins. If the fault shifts to the left draft pin (e.g., 8.01.32 / 8.01.51), the sensor is faulty. If the fault remains on the right side, the issue is in the wiring harness or the HITCH controller.

Repair steps

  1. Turn the tractor's keyswitch to the "OFF" position.
