Massey Ferguson 8.03.16 – HITCH: Rear Hitch Module Voltage Issue
Issue description
The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected an improper voltage level (such as a voltage drop, open circuit, or short) in the power supply or internal circuitry of the rear hitch control system.

Check the cause
Check the main battery voltage using a multimeter (a fully charged battery should read around 12.6V) to rule out low system voltage triggering false codes.
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the Rear Hitch Module for chafed wires, pinched lines, or loose grounds.
Disconnect the module and check the pins for green corrosion or moisture ingress.
Test the voltage at the module's supply pins with the key in the ON position to ensure it is receiving the correct operating voltage from the main harness.
Check all related hitch/EDC fuses.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Always disconnect the tractor's battery before servicing electronic control modules to prevent short circuits.
Access the Module
Locate the Rear Hitch Module (often located under the right-hand console or rear cab panel depending on the exact cab configuration).
Clean and Treat Connectors
If the issue is poor contact due to moisture, clean the connector pins thoroughly and apply a high-quality dielectric grease (like Permatex) to the electrical connectors before reassembly to seal out moisture.
Replace the Module
If the wiring harness tests good (proper voltage and ground) but the code persists, the internal circuitry of the Hitch Module has failed. Remove the mounting bolts, disconnect the harness, and install the replacement module.
Reassemble and Calibrate
Reconnect the battery. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic interface tool to clear the 08.03.16 DTC. You may need to perform a hitch calibration procedure via the tractor's terminal so the new module can learn the upper and lower limits of the draft pins and position sensors.
Parts you might need

Heavy-Duty 12V Battery
Generic Massey Ferguson replacement (if the root cause is a dead/dying battery dropping system voltage).
Dielectric Grease
Permatex or equivalent (for connector sealing).
