Massey Ferguson 8.X.10 – HITCH: Rear Linkage Raise Solenoid Open Circuit (HITCH)

The control module has detected a break in the electrical circuit (an open circuit or infinite resistance) leading to the solenoid responsible for raising the rear three-point hitch, preventing the electronic hitch from lifting the implement.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading from the HITCH module to the rear linkage control valve block for obvious rub points, severed wires, or pinch damage.

   Disconnect the plug at the rear linkage raise solenoid and check for loose pins, pushed-back terminals, water ingress, or corrosion.

   Using a multimeter, measure the resistance across the pins of the raise solenoid coil. An 'open circuit' reading (infinite resistance / OL) confirms the solenoid coil has failed internally.

   If the solenoid tests good, check the continuity of the wiring harness from the solenoid connector back to the HITCH module pins and verify ground integrity.

   Safety First

   Park the tractor on level ground. Lower the rear linkage fully to relieve hydraulic pressure. Turn off the engine and disconnect the battery.

   Locate the Valve

   Identify the rear linkage control valve block at the rear of the tractor. Locate the specific solenoid designated for the 'Raise' function.

   Remove the Faulty Solenoid

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the raise solenoid. Remove the retaining nut or fastener holding the solenoid coil to the valve stem. Slide the old solenoid coil off the valve cartridge. (Note: If the hydraulic cartridge itself is leaking or damaged, the system will need to be depressurized/capped, and the entire valve cartridge replaced. If only the electrical coil is open, you only need to replace the coil).

   Install the New Solenoid

   Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut.

   Reconnect Wiring

   Plug the electrical connector back into the solenoid, ensuring it clicks into place securely.

   Test

   Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and test the rear linkage raise/lower functions using the cab controls.

7. 7

   Clear Codes

   Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 08.00.10 fault code from the HITCH module memory.
