Massey Ferguson E94.04 – ECU: Fuel Filter Pressure Sensor Low Voltage

The controller is receiving a voltage signal from the fuel filter pressure sensor that falls below the normal operating range. This is triggered by a Low Fuel Pressure condition at the filter, which is most commonly caused by restricted fuel flow.

   Verify the fuel level in the tank and check for 'thick fuel' or gelling, which is a primary cause during severe cold weather.

   Check the maintenance history and physical condition of the fuel filters for dirt or restrictions.

   Inspect all fuel lines from the tank to the engine for kinks, leaks, or physical damage.

   Check the electrical condition of the fuel primer pump, specifically checking its fuse to ensure it hasn't blown.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector at the Fuel Filter Pressure Sensor for corrosion, chafing, or a short-to-ground that could be pulling the voltage down.

   Address fuel flow restrictions

   If operating in cold weather, treat the fuel with a de-gelling additive and allow the system to warm up to resolve thick fuel issues.

   Replace fuel filters

   If the filters are dirty or past their service interval, drain the fuel filter housings and replace both the primary and secondary fuel filters. Prime the fuel system afterward.

   Repair wiring and fuses

   If the primer pump fuse is blown, replace it. If the sensor connector is corroded, clean the pins and apply dielectric grease. Repair any damaged wires in the sensor harness.

   Replace the sensor

   If the fuel flow is unrestricted, the filters are new, the wiring is intact, and the ECU is still receiving a low voltage signal, the sensor itself has failed internally and must be replaced.

   Clear codes

   Use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the E94.04 code from the ECU and run the tractor under load to verify the repair.
