Massey Ferguson E94.18 – ECU (Engine Control Unit): Fuel Filter Pressure Sensor Low Pressure

The sensor monitoring the low-pressure fuel circuit has detected that the fuel pressure at the filter is moderately lower than the expected threshold. This typically indicates a restriction in fuel flow, a failing supply pump, or thickened/gelled fuel preventing adequate delivery to the high-pressure system.

   Electrical Primer Pump: Check the operation of the electrical primer pump, including its fuse and relay.

   Resolve Fuel Flow Restrictions

   If the tractor is operating in freezing temperatures and the fuel is gelled, treat the fuel system with an OEM-approved emergency anti-gel treatment (such as AGCO D-Max Winterthaw) to dissolve the wax/gel.

   Replace Fuel Filters

   Drain the fuel filter housing and replace both the primary and secondary fuel filters, as contaminants or slime are the most common cause of the pressure drop.

   Test the Primer Pump

   Turn the key to the ON position and listen for the electrical primer pump. If it does not engage, replace the blown fuse/relay or the pump itself.

   Bleed the System

   After replacing the filters or treating the fuel, bleed the low-pressure fuel system to remove any trapped air.

   Inspect Sensor Wiring

   If mechanical fuel pressure is restored but the code persists, inspect the wiring harness and connector at the fuel filter pressure sensor for corrosion, chafing, or a loose connection.

   If the wiring is intact and fuel pressure is verified to be normal via a mechanical gauge, the sensor itself has failed and must be replaced.
