Massey Ferguson E977.06 – ECU: Engine Cooling Fan Speed Solenoid Issue

The system has detected a fault with the solenoid that controls the speed of the engine's cooling fan (typically an electronically controlled viscous fan clutch or hydraulic cooling fan solenoid valve).

   Visually inspect the back of the viscous fan clutch where the shaft goes into the bearing for debris (such as plastic bags or field material) wrapped around the shaft

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the fan speed solenoid for unplugged connectors, chafed wires, or damaged pins

   Test the solenoid valve for proper resistance

   Verify that the ECU is sending the correct voltage signal to the solenoid

   Clear Debris

   If debris is found wrapped around the fan clutch shaft, carefully cut and remove it. Clear the fault code and test the tractor to see if normal fan operation resumes.

   Repair Wiring

   If the wiring harness is damaged, repair the broken wires or replace the pigtail connector leading to the solenoid.

   Replace Solenoid/Clutch

   If the wiring is intact and the solenoid tests faulty (or the clutch is mechanically seized), you will need to replace the Engine Cooling Fan Speed Solenoid or the entire Viscous Fan Clutch Assembly.
