A.10.1B

Massey Ferguson A.10.1B – Hydraulic Control Module / Mid Mount Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue

Issue description

A malfunction in the first rear remote or mid-mount hydraulic spool valve circuit. The system is detecting an improper signal, lack of communication, or a physical positioning error regarding the valve's spool.

Check the cause

  1. Check for related spool sensor codes such as 0B.00.17 through 0B.00.21 (Issue With Spool Position Sensor Value) or 0B.00.22 / 0B.00.23 (Issue With Calibration OF Valves)

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the tractor's dash/main ECU and the Mid Mount Valve Module / External Valve 1 for corrosion, moisture, or breaks

  3. Test the spool position sensor on its 5V reference circuit; when the spool is in neutral, the signal voltage should read approximately 2.5V ± 0.2V

  4. Check the mechanical linkage and spool to ensure it is not mechanically stuck due to debris or contaminated hydraulic fluid

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Hydraulic Pressure

Ensure the tractor is off, implements are lowered to the ground, and hydraulic pressure is relieved from the system before servicing the valve block.

  2. Access Valve 1

Locate External Hydraulic Valve 1 at the rear remote stack or mid-mount block.

  3. Replace the Sensor/Solenoid

Disconnect the electrical harness from the spool position sensor/solenoid on Valve 1. Unbolt the sensor housing from the valve body and install the replacement, ensuring the O-rings are seated correctly to prevent leaks.

  4. Reassemble and Refill

Reconnect the wiring harness. Top off hydraulic fluid if any was lost during the swap.

  5. Clear Codes and Calibrate

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.10.1B code. You must perform a valve calibration procedure via the tractor's terminal so the ECU can relearn the new sensor's neutral, extend, and retract voltage limits.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Spool Position Sensor (External Hydraulic Valve 1)

OEM part numbers vary depending on whether the tractor is equipped with a Danfoss or Bosch Rexroth valve stack.

  • External Hydraulic Valve 1 Assembly

If the internal spool is scored or the valve block is cracked, the entire slice (Valve 1 Group) must be replaced.
