A.10.22

Massey Ferguson A.10.22 – Hydraulic Control Module / Mid Mount Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a malfunction, leak, or sensor reading error associated with the first auxiliary/external hydraulic spool valve on the tractor.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition, and check hydraulic filters for contamination (metal shavings or dirt) which can cause the spool valve to stick.

  2. Verify the wiring harness and signal voltage for the spool position sensor to rule out electrical communication issues.

  3. Perform a spool leakage pressure test: position the control handle in 'Neutral', connect a hydraulic hand pump to the control valve port, and attempt to pressurize to 2500 psi. If it cannot be pressurized, oil is bypassing the spool.

Repair steps

  1. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the front of the valve and the spool to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  2. Disconnect Linkage

Remove the linkage or control lever from the spool.

  3. Remove Lines

Unscrew the large hydraulic pipe/hose from the rear of the valve.

  4. Extract the Spool

Pull the spool completely out of the valve body. If the spool adapter comes loose instead of the detent retainer, secure the spool on the land section (not the machined valve bore surface) to remove it.

  5. Inspect Components

Remove the washer, centering spring, and stop cup. Inspect the spool and the valve bore for scoring, damage, or foreign matter.

  6. Clean and Reseal

Clean all components thoroughly. Replace all O-rings and seals.

  7. Reassemble and Retest

Reassemble the valve and repeat the pressure check. If the valve still cannot hold pressure due to severe bore scoring, the entire valve assembly must be replaced.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • External Hydraulic Valve 1 Assembly / Auxiliary Hydraulic Control Valve

Exact OEM part numbers vary based on the specific tractor configuration and hydraulic options; consult the dealer parts catalog using the tractor's serial number.

  • Hydraulic Filter

Generic replacement required during hydraulic service.

  • Hydraulic Fluid

OEM-spec UTTO (Universal Tractor Transmission Oil).
