A.10.26

Massey Ferguson A.10.26 – Electro-Hydraulic Unit / Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue

Issue description

The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected a malfunction in the circuit or mechanical operation of External Hydraulic Valve 1 (the first rear remote spool valve). This is most commonly caused by an out-of-range value from the spool valve position sensor, a connection problem to the hydraulic valve solenoid, or moisture ingress affecting the electronic feedback of the valve.

  • 5710SL
  • 5711SL
  • 5712SL

  • 7726S

Check the cause

  1. Inspect electrical connections at External Hydraulic Valve 1 for corrosion, broken wires, or moisture ingress

  2. Check the spool position sensor value using a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to read live data (look for erratic, stuck, or dead values)

  3. Test the solenoid coil resistance and voltage supply to rule out a dead coil

  4. Perform a mechanical check to ensure the spool valve isn't physically jammed by debris

Repair steps

  1. Clean and Reseal Connections

Disconnect the electrical harness from the spool valve position sensor and the solenoid. Clean the contacts thoroughly with electronic contact cleaner. Apply dielectric grease to ensure proper sealing against moisture. Re-test the system.

  2. Replace the Position Sensor

If the live data confirms the sensor is dead, remove the faulty position sensor from its direct mounting on the hydraulic lift cover/valve block.

  3. Install the New Sensor

Mount the new sensor, ensuring the O-rings or seals are properly seated to prevent hydraulic fluid leaks or water ingress.

  4. Replace the Solenoid/Spool Valve

If the sensor is fine but the valve fails to actuate, replace the solenoid coil or the entire spool valve assembly.

  5. Recalibration

After replacing the position sensor or the spool valve, the tractor's hydraulic system will likely need to be recalibrated so the ECU can learn the new sensor's zero and maximum stroke positions. This requires a dealer diagnostic tool or the specific setup procedure outlined in the service manual.

  6. Clear Codes

Clear the 0A.10.26 DTC and test the hydraulic remote under load.

Parts you might need
