A.11.1B

Massey Ferguson A.11.1B – Tractor Management System / Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue

Issue description

The tractor's control system has detected an anomaly with the first rear remote Selective Control Valve (SCV). This is typically triggered by an out-of-range spool position sensor value, a communication error with the valve's electro-hydraulic solenoid, or a physical blockage preventing the spool from reaching its commanded position.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid level and condition (ensure clean UTTO fluid is used, as contaminated fluid can cause valve sticking)

  2. Inspect the spool valve cable and electrical harness connections at the rear SCV block for corrosion, damage, or loose pins

  3. Check the small, thimble-sized pilot filter located inside the SCV assembly for debris or blockages

  4. Use a compatible diagnostic tool to monitor the 'Spool Position Sensor Value' live data to see if the sensor is reading correctly when the cab control is actuated

Repair steps

  1. Relieve hydraulic pressure

Park the tractor on a level surface, lower all implements, turn off the engine, and cycle the hydraulic levers/buttons to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure.

  2. Disconnect battery

Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

  3. Locate valve

Locate External Hydraulic Valve 1 on the rear hydraulic control block.

  4. Inspect and replace cable

Disconnect the spool valve control cable/wiring harness. Inspect the rubber boot and connector. If the cable is damaged or internally shorted, replace it.

  5. Inspect and clean/replace filter

Remove the SCV pilot filter (thimble filter) and inspect it for metal shavings or blockage. Clean or replace the filter as necessary.

  6. Replace electrovalve

If the wiring and filter are good but the fault persists, the electrovalve (solenoid) or the spool position sensor has failed. Remove the retaining bolts for the electrovalve on the hydraulic control block and replace the unit.

  7. Reconnect components

Reconnect the wiring harness and battery.

  8. Top up fluid

Top up the hydraulic fluid if any was lost during the repair.

  9. Clear DTC and test

Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.11.1B DTC and test the remote valve operation from the cab.
