Massey Ferguson A.11.1E – Dash / Mid Mount Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue
Issue description
This indicates a malfunction in the first external hydraulic remote valve circuit. The underlying condition is typically related to an issue with the spool position sensor value, a lack of communication with the valve module, or a physical restriction/pressure issue within the valve itself.

Check the cause
Check the UTTO hydraulic fluid level and condition (look for dark, burnt, or milky fluid indicating water contamination).
Inspect the hydraulic filter for partial blockages that could restrict flow to the system.
Perform a pressure test with a hydraulic gauge to pinpoint whether the issue is a failing pump, a relief valve set too low, or a restriction in Valve 1.
Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connectors running from the dash to the Mid Mount Valve Module and External Valve 1 for communication or sensor issues.
Visually inspect the external control valve, quick couplers, and hoses for external leaks or damaged seals.
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure
Turn off the tractor and relieve all hydraulic system pressure before starting work.
Drain/Flush
If the fluid was contaminated, drain the hydraulic fluid and replace the hydraulic filter.
Disconnect Valve
Disconnect the electrical connectors attached to External Hydraulic Valve 1.
Remove Hardware
Remove the bolts securing the valve to the base plate or hydraulic lift cover.
Detach Lines
Carefully detach the hydraulic lines, noting their positions, and remove the faulty control valve.
Install New Valve
Fit the new control valve to the base plate, ensuring that the standpipe and O-rings are correctly seated into the hydraulic pump/lift cover.
Reassemble
Secure the valve with the mounting bolts and reconnect all hydraulic lines and electrical connectors.
Refill & Bleed
Refill the system with clean OEM-approved UTTO hydraulic fluid. Run the tractor to warm up the fluid, operate the valve to bleed any air from the system, and check for leaks.
Clear Code
Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.11.1E DTC from the system.
