A.11.25

Massey Ferguson A.11.25 – Onboard Diagnostic System / Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction in the first auxiliary remote spool valve (often an electro-hydraulic valve). The underlying condition is typically an electrical fault such as an open circuit, a short to ground, a connection problem at the valve's solenoid, or an implausible reading from the spool position sensor.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition. Look for dark, burnt, or milky fluid which can cause valve sticking and sensor errors.

  2. Check the wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 1 for rub points, pinched wires, or heat damage.

  3. Disconnect the solenoid connector at the valve and inspect for corrosion, moisture, bent pins, and ensure ground integrity.

  4. Measure the coil resistance on the valve's solenoid to ensure it is not open or shorted.

  5. Check the spool position sensor for missing or out-of-range voltage signals using a diagnostic tool.

Repair steps

  1. Fluid Maintenance

If the hydraulic fluid is contaminated, drain the system, replace the hydraulic filters, and refill with fresh UTTO fluid.

  2. Harness Repair

If wiring damage is found during the diagnostic checks, repair the broken/shorted wires and secure the harness away from vibration points.

  3. Valve/Solenoid Service

If the solenoid coil fails the resistance test, replace the dedicated solenoid. If the valve itself is leaking or mechanically binding, use a specialized spool valve replacement/reseal kit. If the spool position sensor has failed internally or the valve body is beyond repair, replace the entire distributor section for Valve 1.

  4. Code Clearing

Once the repair is complete, connect a compatible diagnostic interface tool to the tractor to clear the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) from the system memory.
