A.13.2A

Massey Ferguson A.13.2A – Hydraulic control module or Mid Mount Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 1 Issue

Issue description

Triggered when the tractor's diagnostic system detects a malfunction in the first external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve). The underlying condition is typically a connection problem on the hydraulic valve or an issue with the spool position sensor value (such as an out-of-range signal or loss of communication).

Check the cause

  1. Retrieve and Verify Codes: Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool or interface device to confirm code 0A.13.2A is active.

  2. Live Data Monitoring: Check the live data for the Spool Position Sensor Value on External Valve 1 to see if the signal is erratic, stuck, or dead.

  3. Visual Inspection: Locate External Hydraulic Valve 1 (usually the first slice on the rear remote valve stack or mid-mount block). Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector for corrosion, moisture, bent pins, or chafed wires.

  4. Electrical Testing: Test the connection between the valve module and the dash/ECU to rule out a simple wiring break or short.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during repair.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the area around External Hydraulic Valve 1 to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  3. Address Wiring (If Applicable)

If the diagnostic checks revealed a damaged connector or wiring harness, repair or replace the pigtail connector and clear the codes.

  4. Replace the Sensor/Valve

If the wiring is intact but the spool position sensor has failed, carefully unbolt the electronic actuator/sensor cap from the spool valve slice. (Note: On many modern Massey Ferguson electronic remotes, the position sensor and actuator are serviced as a single electronic head unit).

  5. Install New Component

Mount the new sensor/actuator assembly onto the valve body and torque the retaining bolts to OEM specifications. Reconnect the electrical harness.

  6. Recalibrate

Reconnect the battery. Use the Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the DTCs. You must perform a Calibration of Valves procedure so the module can learn the new spool position sensor's neutral, extend, and retract limits.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • External Hydraulic Valve 1 Assembly / Spool Valve Position Sensor Actuator

Exact part number requires a VIN-specific dealer lookup. Always verify the exact part number with a Massey Ferguson dealer using your tractor's serial number, as electronic remote valves vary heavily depending on whether the tractor has mechanical or electronic remotes, and whether it is a rear-mount or mid-mount valve block.
