Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connectors going to External Hydraulic Valve 1 for corrosion, bent pins, or damaged wires.

  2. Check the spool position sensor values using a diagnostic tool. Erratic or missing values indicate a failed sensor.

  3. Verify communication between the Dash and the Mid Mount Valve Module.

  4. Ensure the hydraulic oil is at the correct level and the hydraulic filters are clean, as fluid contamination can cause the spool valve to stick.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Turn off the tractor and actuate the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system before servicing.

  2. Disconnect Electricals

Disconnect the electrical harness connector from External Hydraulic Valve 1.

  3. Remove the Valve/Sensor

Depending on the diagnostic results, remove the faulty spool position sensor or the entire external hydraulic valve assembly.

  4. Install New Components

Install the replacement valve or sensor. Ensure all O-rings and gaskets are properly seated to prevent leaks.

  5. Reconnect and Torque

Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness. Torque all hydraulic unions and mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

  6. Valve Calibration

After replacing the valve or sensor, you must perform a valve calibration procedure using a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool (failure to do so will trigger calibration fault codes like 0B.00.22 or 0B.00.23).

  7. Clear Codes

Clear the 0A.1X.21 DTC from the system and test the hydraulic remote for proper operation.
