Massey Ferguson A.20.21 – Dash display / Hydraulic Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue
Issue description
Malfunction in the circuit for the second rear remote hydraulic spool valve. The underlying condition is typically an electrical connection problem on the hydraulic valve, a loss of communication, or an out-of-range value coming from the spool position sensor.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Check for an obvious physical connection problem on the External Hydraulic Valve 2 located at the rear remote stack.
Sensor Value Check: Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to monitor the spool position sensor value. Check if the value is erratic, stuck, or missing.
Communication Check: Verify that there is active CAN communication between the Dash and the Valve Module, as a broken data wire can trigger valve-specific faults.
Repair steps
Locate the Valve
Identify External Hydraulic Valve 2 in the rear remote valve block.
Inspect Wiring
Disconnect the electrical harness at the valve. Inspect the pins for corrosion, moisture ingress, or pushed-back terminals, which are common causes of connection problems.
Test the Sensor
If the wiring is intact, the issue is likely the spool position sensor. Test the sensor's resistance/voltage against OEM specs.
Replace Component
If the sensor is faulty or the valve solenoid has failed internally, replace the spool position sensor or the affected valve slice.
Clear Codes
Reconnect the harness and use a compatible diagnostic interface device to clear the DTCs from the tractor's memory.
