A.20.2A

Massey Ferguson A.20.2A – Dash / Mid Mount Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction in the second external hydraulic remote (spool valve) circuit. The underlying condition is typically a connection problem on the hydraulic valve, an out-of-range spool position sensor value, or a loss of communication with the valve module.

Check the cause

  1. Retrieve all active DTCs using a diagnostic tool to confirm if the issue is isolated to Valve 2 or if multiple valves are failing (indicating a broader module failure)

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to External Hydraulic Valve 2 for corroded or loose pins (connection problem cause)

  3. Test the spool position sensor values for Valve 2 to ensure the signal is not erratic or missing (sensor failure cause)

  4. Verify the CAN bus and communication lines between the dash interface and the valve module (communication loss cause)

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve any residual hydraulic pressure before servicing.

  2. Inspect and Clean

Locate External Hydraulic Valve 2 at the rear remote block (or mid-mount block). Disconnect the electrical connector, clean it with contact cleaner, and check for pushed-back pins or wire chafing.

  3. Replace Sensor/Switch

If the wiring is intact but the spool position sensor is returning faulty values, replace the sensor or the electric spool valve control switch.

  4. Replace the Valve Block

If the electronic solenoid or internal spool is mechanically seized or internally shorted, the specific spool valve section will need to be replaced.

  5. Clear Codes

Reconnect all components, power on the tractor, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the DTCs. Test the hydraulic remote with an implement to ensure the code does not return.
