A.22.26

Massey Ferguson A.22.26 – Mid-Mount Valve Module or Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a malfunction associated with the second external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve). The underlying condition is typically an electrical connection problem on the hydraulic valve, an out-of-range spool position sensor value, or a loss of communication between the dash and the valve module.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition. Dark, burnt, or milky fluid can cause valve sticking and sensor errors.

  2. Inspect External Hydraulic Valve 2 (often a Bosch Rexroth SB23 valve) for physical damage or external fluid leaks.

  3. Check the wiring harness connecting the mid-mount valve module to the dash and the specific spool position sensor for Valve 2. Look for corrosion, loose pins, or frayed wires.

  4. Use a hydraulic gauge to test the system pressure at the rear remotes to ensure the pump is delivering adequate flow and the relief valve is functioning.

Repair steps

  1. Fluid and Filter Maintenance

If the hydraulic fluid is contaminated, drain the system, replace the hydraulic filter, and refill with clean OEM-spec UTTO fluid.

  2. Reseal the Valve (If Leaking)

If the Bosch SB23 remote valve is leaking but electrically sound, do not replace the entire valve immediately. Use a specialized spool valve replacement/reseal kit to replace the internal seals.

  3. Replace the Valve Section (If Electrically Failed)

If the spool position sensor or internal solenoid has failed (causing the 0A.22.26 code), the specific distributor section for Valve 2 must be replaced.

  4. Reassembly

Install the new or resealed valve section, ensuring all O-rings are seated correctly and electrical connectors are firmly snapped into place.

  5. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the DTCs from the system and cycle the hydraulic remotes to verify the repair.
