Massey Ferguson A.23.29 – Dash display / Mid Mount Valve Module / Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue
Issue description
Indicates a fault within the secondary remote hydraulic circuit (Spool Valve 2). The underlying condition is typically related to a connection problem on the hydraulic valve, an issue with the spool position sensor value, or a failure in communication between the valve module and the tractor's control systems.

Check the cause
Check hydraulic oil for contamination and inspect the hydraulic/transmission filter for blockages that could restrict oil flow
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the Dash to the Mid Mount Valve Module and the connector on External Hydraulic Valve 2 for corrosion, loose pins, or damaged wires
Verify the spool position sensor value using a diagnostic tool to ensure it is not returning out-of-range values
Ensure the hydraulic couplers are not blocked or damaged and that hoses are not restricted
Repair steps
Relieve System Pressure
Turn off the tractor and actuate the hydraulic levers/controls to relieve any residual pressure in the hydraulic system before servicing the valve block.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the exterior of the hydraulic valve block (usually located at the rear or mid-mount depending on the loader configuration) to prevent dirt from entering the system.
Address Wiring Issues
If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring fault, repair or replace the damaged connector/harness leading to Valve 2.
Replace the Solenoid/Sensor
If the spool position sensor or solenoid coil is faulty, unbolt the electronic slice/coil from the valve body and install the replacement part.
Replace the Spool Valve Slice
If the valve itself is mechanically stuck or the internal electrics have failed, unbolt the specific Valve 2 slice from the valve bank. Install the new electric spool slice and torque the tie-rod bolts to OEM specifications.
Program the Valve
Note that replacing an electric spool slice (e.g., part 3797234M6) requires the new unit to be programmed/calibrated to the tractor's ECU using a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool.
Clear Codes and Test
Clear the 0A.23.29 DTC from the system and test the remote hydraulic functions under load to verify the repair.
