A.2X.19

Massey Ferguson A.2X.19 – Mid Mount Valve Module or main vehicle/dash ECU: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

A malfunction in the second external hydraulic spool valve circuit, typically indicating a connection problem on the hydraulic valve itself or an out-of-range value reading from the spool position sensor.

Check the cause

  1. Retrieve active codes using a diagnostic tool to confirm 0A.2X.19 is active and check for related codes such as 0A.41.FF.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to External Hydraulic Valve 2 for corroded pins, loose connections, or damaged wires.

  3. Test the spool position sensor to verify it is sending the correct voltage or resistance back to the module.

  4. Check for proper CAN bus communication between the dash and the valve module as communication drops can trigger valve errors.

Repair steps

  1. Locate the Valve

Locate External Hydraulic Valve 2. Depending on the tractor model, this may be assembled directly on the rear lift cover (under the seat) or as part of a front axle/mid-mount valve block.

  2. Clean and Re-seat Connections

Disconnect the electrical connector to the spool valve and its position sensor. Clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner and re-seat them firmly. Clear the code to see if it returns.

  3. Replace the Sensor

If the spool position sensor is reading out of range, unbolt the sensor from the valve body and install a replacement.

  4. Replace the Spool Valve

If mechanically failed, relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system. Remove the bolts securing the valve to the base plate/lift cover and carefully detach the valve, ensuring that the standpipe is not dislodged from its seat in the hydraulic pump. Fit the new spool valve to the base plate, ensuring the standpipe and O-rings are correctly located. Secure the valve with the mounting bolts and reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harness.

  5. Clear Codes and Test

Use the diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.2X.19 code and operate the external hydraulic circuit to confirm the repair.
