A.2X.1B

Massey Ferguson A.2X.1B – Autotronic controller or Implement / EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic) Control Unit: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction in the circuit or mechanical operation of the second external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve), typically caused by an electrical circuit issue, an out-of-range spool position sensor value, or a mechanical/hydraulic condition like a stuck valve or low pressure.

Check the cause

  1. Isolate the implement by trying it on another spool valve, or try a known-good implement on spool valve 2 to rule out external issues

  2. Verify that the external linkage and valves are returning to their center positions properly

  3. Inspect the suspension/pump/valve solenoid circuit for open circuits or shorts to ground, checking the solenoid connector, harness rub points, and ground integrity

  4. Test the solenoid coil resistance and verify the spool position sensor values using a diagnostic tool or multimeter

  5. Check for physical sticking or jamming of the valve caused by debris or internal wear

Repair steps

  1. Relieve all hydraulic system pressure before starting work to prevent injury.

    Safety First

  2. Attempt to delete the error code from the control unit dashboard to see if it is a hard fault or an intermittent glitch.

    Clear the Code

  3. If the valve is physically jammed, manually move the pump control valve lever back and forth to release it. If debris is the cause, remove the control valve and clean the valve chamber.

    Unstick the Valve (If Mechanical)

  4. If diagnostic checks revealed a short or open circuit, repair the damaged wiring harness or replace the faulty connector leading to the spool valve 2 solenoid.

    Repair Wiring

  5. If the spool position sensor or the solenoid coil has failed its resistance/voltage tests, replace the faulty component.

    Replace Electrical Components

  6. If the valve is heavily worn, leaking fluid, or permanently jammed, remove the entire hydraulic control valve assembly and install a new OEM replacement.

    Replace the Valve Assembly

  7. After installation, properly bleed the hydraulic system to ensure air is removed and the system operates correctly.

    Bleed the System
