A.2X.27

Massey Ferguson A.2X.27 – Hydraulic Control Module or Mid Mount Valve Module: External Hydraulic Valve 2 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction in the second remote hydraulic spool valve circuit. This can manifest as slow, weak, or completely dead hydraulic response on that specific remote, or it may be an electrical fault (such as an open circuit, short, or sensor plausibility error) preventing the valve from actuating properly.

Check the cause

  1. Check the hydraulic/transmission fluid level and condition. Contaminated oil or a blocked filter is a leading cause of spool valve issues.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to External Valve 2. Look for rub points, open circuits, or shorts to ground. Check the solenoid connector for corrosion and test the coil resistance.

  3. Check the spool position sensor value using a diagnostic tool to ensure it is reading correctly and not sending implausible signals.

  4. Check the valve stack for external leaks. Test the manual control lever (if equipped) to see if the spool feels sticky or binds, which indicates internal scoring or seal failure.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic levers to relieve all residual pressure in the system.

  2. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical connectors to the Valve 2 solenoid and position sensor.

  3. Remove Lines

Mark and disconnect the hydraulic lines attached to the External Valve 2 ports. Cap the lines to prevent contamination.

  4. Dismount Valve

Unbolt the Valve 2 assembly from the hydraulic valve stack/manifold.

  5. Rebuild (Optional)

If rebuilding rather than replacing, remove the snap ring and end cap. Remove the centering spring. Carefully slide the precision-machined spool out of the valve body bore. Inspect for deep scoring (if clearances exceed 0.001 inches or the casting is cracked, the valve must be replaced). Replace all O-rings, wiper seals, and metering valve seals from a rebuild kit. Lubricate heavily with clean hydraulic oil and reassemble.

  6. Install

Mount the new or rebuilt valve assembly back onto the stack. Torque the retaining bolts to OEM specifications.

  7. Reconnect

Reattach the hydraulic lines and plug in the electrical harness.

  8. Service Fluid

Replace the hydraulic oil filter and top off the hydraulic fluid if contamination was the root cause.

  9. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.2X.27 code and test the remote for proper operation.
