A.30.12

Massey Ferguson A.30.12 – Autotronic or EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Control) module: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue

Issue description

A malfunction in the circuit or mechanical operation of the third rear remote hydraulic spool valve, preventing it from responding correctly to operator inputs. This typically points to an electrical issue (such as a failed solenoid, poor connection, or wiring harness fault) or a mechanical issue (such as a stuck spool or pressure irregularity).

Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) is at the correct level and not contaminated (milky or burnt-smelling).

  2. Check the hydraulic filter, as a clogged filter can restrict flow and cause valve errors.

  3. Inspect the external hydraulic valve block at the rear of the tractor for external leaks around Valve 3, damaged O-rings, or loose fittings.

  4. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the Valve 3 solenoid for chafed wires, corrosion inside the connector, or bent pins.

  5. Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the solenoid coil and verify it is receiving voltage when the cab control is actuated.

  6. Swap the solenoid coil from Valve 3 with the coil from Valve 1 or Valve 2. If the fault code changes to reflect the new position, the solenoid is faulty. If it remains A.30.12, the issue is in the wiring harness or the mechanical valve cartridge.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic control levers/buttons in the cab to relieve all residual pressure in the hydraulic system.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the exterior of the hydraulic valve block to prevent dirt from entering the system during disassembly.

  3. Disconnect Electricals

Unplug the wiring harness connector from the Valve 3 solenoid.

  4. Remove the Valve/Solenoid

Remove the retaining bolts holding the solenoid or the specific spool valve cartridge to the main valve block.

  5. Inspect and Replace

Carefully pull the cartridge out. Inspect the internal bore for scoring. If replacing O-rings, lubricate the new seals with clean hydraulic fluid. If replacing the solenoid or cartridge, install the new OEM component.

  6. Reassembly

Torque the retaining bolts to the manufacturer's specifications and reconnect the electrical harness.

  7. Test and Clear Codes

Start the tractor, check for leaks, and test the operation of the 3rd remote. Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.30.12 fault code from the ECU.

Parts you might need

(5)
  • External Hydraulic Spool Valve Assembly / Cartridge

    4330201M91

For older/smaller series (e.g., 2600 series). 5600/7600/7700 series typically need the specific electro-proportional cartridge.

  • Hydraulic Valve Solenoid Coil

  • Hydraulic Quick Couplers

Replace the female body halves if the issue is related to pressure loss at the tip.

  • Hydraulic Filter

Replace if the system is contaminated.

  • Hydraulic Fluid

OEM UTTO (Universal Tractor Transmission Oil).
