A.30.25

Massey Ferguson A.30.25 – Vehicle Control Module (VCM) or Hydraulic/EHR (Electronic Hitch & Remote) controller: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction in the third auxiliary hydraulic remote valve (spool valve) circuit, typically caused by an electrical connection problem, communication failure with the actuator, or mechanical failure/binding within the spool valve.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 3 for corrosion, bent pins, or wire chafing.

  2. Perform a swap test: move the electrical connector from Valve 3 to Valve 2. If the fault code changes to Valve 2, the valve solenoid/actuator is faulty. If it remains on Valve 3, the issue is in the wiring harness or ECU.

  3. Check the tractor's hydraulic fluid level and ensure the main hydraulic pump is building adequate pressure.

  4. Perform a mechanical inspection of the valve body for external leaks or physical damage that could cause the internal spool to bind.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the system.

  2. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts and protect the ECU.

  3. Remove Connections

Unplug the electrical harness connector from External Hydraulic Valve 3.

  4. Disconnect Lines

Place a catch pan underneath the valve block. Unbolt and disconnect the hydraulic lines/hoses routed to the #3 valve.

  5. Dismount the Valve

Remove the mounting bolts securing the #3 spool valve to the hydraulic manifold/valve stack.

  6. Install New Valve

Mount the replacement spool valve (or reinstall the rebuilt valve if using a seal repair kit). Torque the mounting bolts to the OEM specifications found in your specific model's service manual.

  7. Reassemble

Reconnect the hydraulic lines and plug in the electrical harness.

  8. Test and Clear

Reconnect the battery, top off the hydraulic fluid, and start the tractor. Check for leaks. Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.32.25 DTC from the system.
