A.30.28

Massey Ferguson A.30.28 – Hydraulic Control Module / Auxiliary Valve Controller: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue

Issue description

A malfunction in the circuit or operation of the tractor's third auxiliary hydraulic spool valve, typically indicating an electrical fault such as an open circuit, a short to ground, a solenoid failure, or a sensor signal mismatch.

Check the cause

  1. Visually inspect the solenoid connector for Valve 3 for corrosion, damaged pins, or poor fitment.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the valve for rub points, stretched wires, or vibration damage.

  3. Confirm the 5V reference supply voltage and ground integrity at the sensor/connector.

  4. Test the solenoid coil resistance to ensure it is within OEM specifications (not open or shorted).

  5. Check the signal sweep from the valve controls (levers/buttons) to ensure a smooth voltage change with no dropouts.

  6. Inspect the physical valve linkage for binding or damage that might prevent the spool from moving freely.

Repair steps

  1. Resolve Wiring Issues

If the diagnostic checks reveal a short, open circuit, or bad ground, repair the affected section of the wiring harness or replace the damaged connector. Clear the code and retest.

  2. Replace the Solenoid/Valve

If the wiring is intact but the solenoid fails the resistance test or the valve is internally sticking/binding, replace the External Hydraulic Valve 3 assembly (or just the solenoid coil if available separately for your specific model).

  3. Calibrate the System

After replacing the valve or repairing the circuit, you must run a hydraulic valve calibration procedure using the tractor's onboard terminal or a compatible diagnostic scan tool to sync the new valve limits with the ECU.

  4. Clear Codes

Clear the 0A.30.28 DTC from the system and operate the #3 auxiliary remote to verify the repair.
