Massey Ferguson A.31.1B – Tractor Control Unit / Hydraulic/Implement Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue

Issue description

Indicates a fault, connection problem, or operational failure associated with the third external hydraulic remote/spool valve on the tractor.

Check the electrical connections and wiring harness leading to the External Hydraulic Valve 3 solenoid/slice for damage, corrosion, or loose pins.
Inspect the valve block for physical damage or hydraulic fluid leaks.
Verify the pilot pressure control for the electric spool valve.
Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the code and operate the #3 remote to see if the code returns as an active fault.

Relieve hydraulic pressure
Relieve all hydraulic system pressure before beginning work.
Disconnect electrical harness
Disconnect the electrical harness from the Valve 3 electric spool slice.
Disconnect and cap hydraulic lines
Disconnect the hydraulic lines/hoses attached to the valve. Cap all lines immediately to prevent system contamination.
Unbolt faulty valve
Unbolt the faulty spool valve slice from the hydraulic valve stack/block.
Install new valve slice
Install the new valve slice, ensuring all O-rings and seals are new and properly seated.
Reconnect lines and harness
Reconnect the hydraulic lines and the electrical harness.
Refill fluid and bleed system
Refill or check hydraulic fluid levels and bleed the system if necessary.
Clear DTC and program ECU
Use a dealer diagnostic tool to clear the DTC. Note: Many modern electric spool slices must be programmed to the tractor's ECU upon installation to function correctly.
