Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Check for fluid leaks around the hydraulic valve block and inspect for loose connections or damaged valve bodies.
Electrical Testing: Inspect the electrical harness and the 4-pin connector on Valve 3 for corrosion, frayed wires, or poor voltage.
Fluid Condition: Check the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) for contamination (metal shavings or dirt), which can cause internal valve components to stick or operate erratically.
System Noise: Listen for unusual noises (whining or banging) during operation, which indicates air trapped in the hydraulic system or a failing pump.
Pressure Test: Verify overall hydraulic pressure to ensure the issue is isolated to Valve 3 and not a symptom of a failing main hydraulic pump or low fluid levels.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Always relieve hydraulic system pressure before starting any work to prevent injury.
Disconnect Electricals
Disconnect the electrical harness from the electric spool valve (if equipped).
Remove Hydraulic Lines
Disconnect the hydraulic lines connected to External Valve 3. Cap the lines immediately to prevent fluid loss and system contamination.
Remove the Valve
Unbolt and remove the faulty spool valve from the hydraulic valve block.
Clean and Rebuild/Replace
If rebuilding, clean out any packing dirt or debris to prevent the spool from binding. Replace the internal seals using an OEM repair kit. Otherwise, prepare the new replacement valve.
Installation
Install the new or rebuilt valve, torqueing the mounting hardware to OEM specifications.
Reconnect
Reattach the hydraulic lines and plug in the electrical harness.
Fluid and Filters
Refill any lost hydraulic fluid with OEM UTTO fluid. If the fluid was contaminated, flush the system and replace the hydraulic filters.
Bleed the System
Properly bleed the hydraulic system to remove trapped air.
Test
Start the tractor and test the operation of External Valve 3 to confirm the fault code clears and the remote operates smoothly without leaks.
