Massey Ferguson A.32.24 – Tractor Management System / Autotronic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue
Issue description
The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected a malfunction in the circuit or operation of the 3rd external hydraulic remote (spool valve 3). This is typically an electrical fault such as an open circuit, a short to ground, a short to power, or a communication failure with the electrohydraulic solenoid controlling that specific valve.

Check the cause
Check the hydraulic fluid level and condition. Ensure there are no severe leaks around the rear remote valve block.
Inspect the wiring harness leading to External Valve 3. Look for rub points, damaged wires, or corrosion inside the connector pins, which are common causes for valve communication drops.
Turn the key on and check the LED status on the electronic valve. The LED should be solid red (receiving power) and turn green when receiving input to move. If the LED is flashing, the valve itself is registering an internal fault.
Perform a swap test to isolate whether the issue is the valve solenoid or the tractor's wiring/joystick. Swap the electrical connector from Valve 3 to a known good valve (like Valve 1 or 2). If the fault code changes to the new valve, the wiring or controller is at fault. If the fault remains with Valve 3, the valve solenoid is defective.
Use a multimeter to verify that the solenoid is receiving the correct reference voltage and check the coil resistance against OEM specs.
Repair steps
Depressurize the System
Lower all implements to the ground, turn off the engine, and cycle the hydraulic levers/joystick to relieve all residual hydraulic pressure in the system.
Disconnect Battery
Disconnect the negative battery terminal to protect the Autotronic control module during electrical component replacement.
Remove the Faulty Component
Disconnect the electrical harness from External Hydraulic Valve 3. Thoroughly clean the area around the valve block to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system. Unbolt the faulty electrohydraulic spool valve/solenoid assembly from the main valve stack.
Install the New Valve
Lubricate the new O-rings/seals with clean hydraulic fluid. Mount the new valve assembly and torque the retaining bolts to the specifications outlined in the service manual.
Reassemble and Reconnect
Reconnect the electrical harness to the new valve. Reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes and Calibrate
Turn the key on. Use the tractor's onboard diagnostic screen (holding the up arrow while cycling the clutch) or the Wintest diagnostic software to clear the stored A.32.24 / 0A.32.24 fault code.
Test
Start the tractor, check for leaks, and test the operation of the 3rd remote using the cab controls.
