A.33.11

Massey Ferguson A.33.11 – Tractor Control Unit (TCU) / Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction within the third external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve) circuit. This can be caused by an electrical connection problem to the valve's solenoid, erratic hydraulic pressure levels, a sticking spool, or an internal failure of the valve itself.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the hydraulic fluid (UTTO) level and condition. Ensure the hydraulic filters are not clogged (should be changed every 300–500 hours).

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 3. Look for corrosion, frayed wires, or loose connections.

  3. Check the valve body, hoses, and couplers for visible fluid leaks or damaged seals.

  4. Test the hydraulic pressure at the remote couplers to see if the pressure is fluctuating or dropping, indicating a faulty valve or worn pump.

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve all pressure from the hydraulic system.

  2. Disconnect Electricals

Carefully unplug the electrical wiring harness from External Hydraulic Valve 3.

  3. Remove Hydraulic Lines

Disconnect the hydraulic hoses/lines attached to the valve. Cap or plug the lines immediately to prevent dirt and contaminants from entering the hydraulic system.

  4. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the faulty external hydraulic valve from the valve stack or lift cover mounting block.

  5. Install the New Valve

Mount the replacement valve and torque the mounting bolts to the manufacturer's specifications.

  6. Reconnect

Reattach the hydraulic lines and plug in the electrical connector.

  7. Fluid Top-Up & Bleed

Top up the hydraulic fluid with OEM-spec UTTO (Universal Tractor Transmission Oil) to replace any fluid lost during the swap. Start the tractor and operate the valve to bleed air from the system.

  8. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic interface tool to clear the 0A.33.11 code from the system.
