A.33.13

Massey Ferguson A.33.13 – Onboard diagnostic system / Hydraulic/Implement Controller: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue

Issue description

A malfunction, restriction, or electrical connection problem associated with the third remote hydraulic spool valve, resulting in the implement attached to this valve being slow, weak, or completely unresponsive.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connector at External Valve 3 for corrosion, loose pins, or damage.

  2. Check the hydraulic fluid level and quality, and inspect for a blocked hydraulic/transmission filter.

  3. Ensure the quick-disconnect couplers on Valve 3 are not damaged or blocked, and check hoses for internal collapse or external leaks.

  4. Inspect the valve body for worn seals, damaged O-rings, or loose fittings that could cause a pressure drop.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Turn off the tractor and cycle the hydraulic controls to relieve all residual pressure in the system.

  2. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve stack to prevent dirt from contaminating the hydraulic system during disassembly.

  3. Disconnect Electricals

Unplug the electrical connector from the Valve 3 solenoid.

  4. Remove Hoses/Lines

Disconnect the hydraulic lines routed to the Valve 3 slice. Cap the lines immediately to prevent fluid loss and contamination.

  5. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the External Hydraulic Valve 3 from the main valve block assembly.

  6. Repair or Replace

If rebuilding, replace the internal O-rings and seals. If the solenoid or spool is heavily scored or electrically dead, replace the entire valve slice.

  7. Reinstallation

Install the new or repaired valve, torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications, and reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical harness.

  8. Fluid and Filter Service

Replace the hydraulic filter and top off the hydraulic fluid to the correct level.

  9. Test and Clear Codes

Start the tractor, test the remote valve for proper operation and leaks, and use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the A.33.13 DTC from the system.
