A.33.26

Massey Ferguson A.33.26: External Hydraulic Valve 3 Issue

Issue description

Malfunction, pressure loss, or operational fault associated with the third external hydraulic remote valve (spool valve) on the tractor.

Check the cause

  1. Check hydraulic fluid level and condition (look for dark, burnt, or milky appearance indicating water contamination)

  2. Inspect the hydraulic filter for partial blockages that could restrict flow

  3. Test system pressure with a hydraulic gauge to pinpoint a failing pump, low relief valve setting, or valve restriction

  4. Perform a visual leak inspection on external control valves, quick couplers, and hoses

  5. Check for system aeration (air in the lines) which can cause vibrations and spontaneous cylinder action

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Ensure the tractor is turned off and relieve all hydraulic system pressure before beginning work.

  2. Fluid and Filter Maintenance

If the fluid is contaminated or degraded, drain the system, flush it, and replace the hydraulic filter with an OEM replacement.

  3. Address Leaks and Seals

Locate External Hydraulic Valve 3. If the valve is leaking or sticking, remove it and replace the internal seals and O-rings using an OEM spool valve repair kit.

  4. Valve Replacement

If the spool valve is mechanically damaged, scored, or suffering from an internal failure that cannot be resealed, unbolt the valve assembly from the hydraulic block/lift cover and install a new replacement spool valve.

  5. Reassembly and Testing

Reconnect all hydraulic lines and quick couplers. Refill the system with clean UTTO (Universal Tractor Transmission Oil). Start the tractor, operate the valve to bleed any trapped air, and check for leaks.

  6. Clear Codes

Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the A.33.26 DTC from the system.
