Check the cause
Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to confirm 0A.33.28 is active and check for accompanying codes (e.g., 0A.41.FF).
Locate External Hydraulic Valve 3 at the rear remote valve block and inspect the wiring harness for chafing, breaks, or melted insulation.
Disconnect the electrical plug at Valve 3 and check for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-back pins.
Use a multimeter to check the resistance of the valve's solenoid coil and verify the control module is sending the correct reference voltage.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and relieve all hydraulic system pressure by moving the hydraulic control levers/joysticks in all directions.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the rear hydraulic valve block around Valve 3 to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during repair.
Address Wiring
If the diagnostic checks revealed a damaged connector or wiring, splice in a new pigtail connector or repair the harness.
Replace the Solenoid/Valve
If the electrical supply is good but the valve is unresponsive or internally shorted, unbolt the solenoid actuator from the Valve 3 slice. If the mechanical spool is sticking, the entire valve slice may need to be removed from the hydraulic stack.
Reassembly
Install the new solenoid or valve slice using new O-rings between the valve blocks. Torque the tie-rod bolts to OEM specifications.
Calibration and Testing
Reconnect the wiring, top off hydraulic fluid if any was lost, and use the diagnostic tool to clear the 0A.33.28 code. Run the tractor and actuate Valve 3 to ensure proper operation and check for leaks.
Parts you might need
(2)External Hydraulic Valve 3 Solenoid / Electro-Hydraulic Spool Valve Slice
Always order the replacement valve or solenoid using the tractor's specific serial number through an AGCO parts catalog.
Hose connector kits and O-ring seal kits
H10167For older legacy blocks; modern Tier 4 models will require specific AGCO/Massey Ferguson O-ring kits for the slice assembly.
