Massey Ferguson A.40.18: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue

   Check the hydraulic oil filter or transmission filter for blockages

   Inspect the hydraulic fluid for contamination (dirty oil)

   Service simple items

   Start by servicing the simple items: replace the hydraulic/transmission filter and flush contaminated hydraulic fluid, replacing it with OEM UTTO fluid.

   Inspect electrical connections

   Inspect and clean the electrical connections to the #4 external hydraulic valve solenoid.

   Remove valve block

   If the spool valve is sticking or leaking, remove the valve block from the tractor.

   Disassemble spool valve

   Disassemble the spool valve and inspect the internal seals, O-rings, and the spindle for wear.

   Rebuild or replace spool valve

   Rebuild the spool valve using an OEM repair kit, or replace the entire valve assembly if the internal housing is scored or beyond repair.

   Reinstall and test

   Reinstall the valve, reconnect all hoses and couplers, and test the hydraulic system for proper operation and pressure.
