Check the cause

  1. Check the LED indicator on the #4 electronic valve block at the rear of the tractor for blink codes (solid red means power, green means input, flashing means error).

  2. Check if the SCV unlock button in the cab is blinking red, indicating the system has locked out the valve.

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at Valve 4 for corrosion, moisture, or broken wires.

  4. Access the onboard diagnostic menu to check for secondary DC or TC error codes in the Autotronic system.

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Power down the tractor and relieve all hydraulic pressure from the system.

  2. Clean Connections

Disconnect the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 4. Clean the pins thoroughly with electrical contact cleaner and apply dielectric grease. Reconnect and test to see if the code clears.

  3. Repair Wiring

If the wiring harness is damaged or frayed near the valve, repair the wires or splice in a new connector pigtail.

  4. Inspect Detents

If the valve detents are mechanically worn or sticking, inspect the detent mechanism. On some models (like the 7600 series), detents can be sourced and modified to fit as a cheaper alternative to replacing the whole valve.

  5. Replace Valve Assembly

If the solenoid or internal spool position sensor has failed, the entire electro-hydraulic valve assembly must typically be replaced. Massey Ferguson generally does not sell the internal electronic components or sensors separately.

  6. Installation

Unbolt the hydraulic lines and mounting bolts for Valve 4, remove the old valve, and install the new valve assembly. Top off the hydraulic fluid.

  7. Clear Codes

Clear the DTCs using a compatible diagnostic tool or the tractor's onboard diagnostic interface.

Parts you might need

(3)
  • Complete Electro-Hydraulic Spool Valve Assembly

OEM part number varies heavily by specific tractor model and hydraulic pump configuration.

  • Spool Valve Detent Kit

Generic/Modified fitment available for 7600 series tractors if the issue is mechanical.

  • Hydraulic Valve Connector / Wiring Harness Pigtail

Generic replacement depending on the pin configuration of the specific model year.
