Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness and connector going to External Valve 4 for connection problems

  2. Check the hydraulic/transmission fluid level and condition for contamination or a blocked filter

  3. Check for visible fluid leaks around the valve body and O-rings

  4. Check if the valve is physically unresponsive or mechanically binding due to debris or internal wear

  5. Ensure the quick couplers and hoses attached to remote 4 are not damaged or blocked

Repair steps

  1. Depressurize the System

Turn off the tractor. Lower all implements to the ground and cycle the hydraulic control levers/buttons to relieve all residual pressure in the system.

  2. Access the Valve Block

Remove the rear inspection cover or access panel to reach the external hydraulic control valves.

  3. Drain/Catch Fluid

Place a catch pan beneath the valve block, as hydraulic fluid (UTTO) will leak during removal.

  4. Disconnect Lines

Carefully disconnect the electrical wiring harness and the hydraulic hoses/lines attached to Valve 4.

  5. Remove the Valve

Unbolt the faulty spool valve (slice) from the hydraulic manifold block.

  6. Clean and Prep

Clean the mounting surface thoroughly. Ensure no dirt or debris enters the exposed hydraulic system.

  7. Install New/Rebuilt Valve

Mount the replacement spool valve (or the repaired unit with new O-rings/seals) and torque the mounting bolts to OEM specifications.

  8. Reconnect

Reattach all hydraulic lines and plug in the electrical connectors.

  9. Service Fluids

Replace the hydraulic filter and top off the system with clean OEM UTTO fluid (e.g., 10W40 tractor fluid).

  10. Purge Air

Start the tractor and allow the oil to warm up. Slowly cycle the hydraulic system (Valve 4) several times to purge trapped air from the lines. Check for leaks and verify the fault code has cleared.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • Electric Spool Slice / External Hydraulic Valve

    3797234M6

New electronic spool slices may need to be programmed to the tractor's ECU upon installation.

  • Spool Valve Repair Kit

    3176423M91

Contains O-rings and seals to rebuild leaking valves

  • Hydraulic Filter

Generic requirement; match to specific tractor model.

  • Hydraulic Fluid

    UTTO (Universal Tractor Transmission Oil)
