   Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool or interface device to confirm the 0A.40.2A code is active

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to External Hydraulic Valve 4 at the rear remote block for chafed wires, pinched harnesses, or debris

   Disconnect the electrical connector at Valve 4 and check for bent pins, moisture, or corrosion

   Test the valve's electronic solenoid for proper resistance using a multimeter to ensure it hasn't shorted or opened

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and relieve all hydraulic system pressure by cycling the hydraulic levers/controls.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the rear remote valve block around Valve 4 to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Repair Wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a wiring or connector fault, repair the harness or replace the pigtail connector.

   Replace the Valve/Solenoid

   If the valve solenoid or the spool valve itself has failed internally, disconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical connector. Unbolt Valve 4 from the hydraulic stack.

   Install New Part

   Bolt the new spool valve or solenoid into place, ensuring all O-rings are properly seated. Reconnect the hydraulic lines and electrical connector.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the diagnostic tool, clear the 0A.40.2A DTC, and run the tractor to verify the hydraulic remote operates correctly without throwing a new code.
