Massey Ferguson A.41.1F – EHR (Electronic Hitch/Hydraulic Remote) Control Module or Hydraulic Control Module: External Hydraulic Valve 4 Issue
Issue description
A connection problem or electrical fault on the 4th external hydraulic spool valve, typically caused by an open circuit, a short circuit, an abnormal solenoid amp draw, or an implausible reading from the spool position sensor, causing the valve to lock out electronically.

Check the cause
Check the LED indicators on the physical electronic valve block at the rear of the tractor (a flashing LED indicates a localized fault on that specific valve)
Verify if the SCV unlock button in the cab is blinking red and test if the valve can be operated manually via the mechanical override to rule out a physically seized spool
Inspect the wiring harness leading to Spool Valve 4 (often labeled X669) for corrosion, moisture ingress, or damaged pins
Enter the tractor's onboard diagnostic menu to check for secondary DC or TC error codes that might indicate a specific short or open circuit
Repair steps
Relieve Pressure
Turn off the tractor, lower all implements, and relieve hydraulic pressure from the system.
Clean and Reconnect
Disconnect the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 4. Clean the contacts thoroughly with electrical contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease, and reconnect. Clear the code and test.
Replace the Solenoid/Valve
If the wiring is intact and the code returns, the electronic solenoid or spool position sensor has likely failed. Replace the complete electronic spool valve assembly, as the solenoid and sensor are not sold separately.
Installation
Unbolt the faulty spool valve slice from the rear hydraulic block. Install the new valve assembly, ensuring all O-rings are seated correctly. Torque the mounting bolts to the specification found in the service manual.
Calibration
Once installed, use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the DTCs. Electronically calibrate the new EHR valve spool to the tractor's system so the module learns the new neutral set points.
