Check the cause

  1. Check UTTO hydraulic fluid level and condition (look for dark, burnt, or milky fluid indicating water contamination)

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector going to External Hydraulic Valve 4 for corroded, loose, or damaged pins

  3. Check for a partially blocked hydraulic filter restricting flow to the system

  4. Inspect the valve block for external leaks such as seeping O-rings or couplers

  5. Perform a leak down and pressure test at the remote with a hydraulic gauge to determine if the valve is failing to hold correct pressure internally

Repair steps

  1. Relieve Pressure

Ensure the tractor engine is off, the implement is lowered to the ground, and all hydraulic pressure is relieved from the system before servicing.

  2. Fluid & Filter Service

If the diagnostic check revealed degraded fluid, drain the hydraulic fluid, replace the hydraulic filter, and refill with clean UTTO fluid.

  3. Harness Repair

If the electrical connector to Valve 4 is damaged, clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner or splice in a replacement pigtail connector.

  4. Valve / Solenoid Replacement

If the valve solenoid has failed internally, unbolt the faulty electric spool slice or solenoid from the hydraulic valve stack. Install the replacement spool valve/solenoid, ensuring all mating O-rings are seated correctly to prevent internal pressure loss.

  5. Programming

Note that some complete electric spool slice replacements (like part 3797234M6) may need to be programmed to the tractor's ECU upon installation.

  6. Clear Codes

Use a compatible Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the A.41.22 / 0A.41.22 code from the system.

  7. Test

Run the tractor and perform a functional test of the remote to ensure it reaches full pressure without sluggishness.
