Check the cause
Use a diagnostic tool or interface device compatible with Massey Ferguson tractors to confirm the active DTC.
Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at External Hydraulic Valve 4 for corrosion, backed-out pins, or wire chafing.
Consult the tractor's specific service manual to interpret the exact electrical values expected at the valve solenoid.
Repair steps
Locate valve
Locate the rear hydraulic valve stack and identify External Valve 4.
Disconnect connector
Disconnect the electrical connector to the valve's solenoid.
Clean and repair wiring
Clean the contacts and repair any damaged wiring in the pigtail harness.
Replace valve
If the wiring is intact but the code persists, the electric spool slice/solenoid has likely failed internally and must be replaced.
Clear DTCs
After replacing the valve slice, use a diagnostic tool to clear the DTCs from the system. Note: Some replacement electric spool slices require programming/calibration to the tractor after installation.
